With increasing pressure on the struggling Denver Broncos to perform, former Denver teammate QB Russell Wilson says the locker room could soon be turned upside down.
Former Seattle Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson spoke on NFL Network about the problems that could arise in the Denver locker room.
Robinson says Wilson – with whom he won a Super Bowl in 2014 – should do more to motivate his team and encourage his teammates to do better.
Ex-Seahawks FB Michael Robinson Says Russell Wilson Can Alienate His Broncos Teammates
Robinson (26) and Wilson were both teammates when Seattle won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014
“This is Football 101,” Robinson said. “My 13-year-old son understands how to redirect an attack line. And Russell understands how to do that too. This is what comes to my house. If you call him a robot.
“How can you stand there, you know the offense looks like this, you know all these questions here about you and the offense, and you just say, ‘We need to perform better, let’s drive.’ ‘
In the off-season, the Broncos traded a huge amount for Wilson’s services and signed him unseen for a five-year, $245 million extension.
Wilson has struggled in his first season in Denver, starting with a disappointing 2-4 record
Robinson believes the price tag paid for Wilson, coupled with his unenthusiastic leadership style, would make teammates down the drain.
“When you’re a teammate in that locker room, you’re like, be human! Please! Call someone out! Be angry about something! Don’t act like this is just business as usual!’ Robinson added.
“Because I think at the end of the day it’s on the horizon for this team – I hope not – but I think it’s on the horizon: Mutiny is on the way.
“The guys in that locker room will turn around and say, ‘Russell’s got his money. New head coach, he’s got his money, he’s all good. But what about us? What about the boys in the locker room?’ ‘
