Dancing With the Stars has a “criminal” contestant in Anna Delvey, the beautiful brunette who posed as a German billionaire heiress.

And the 33-year-old former prison director – whose real name is Anna Sorokin – could earn a tidy sum for her participation in the TV show.

If she does well on the show, she could earn around $295,000 with her dance moves.

That’s $20,000 more than she extorted from unsuspecting victims seven years ago.

From November 2016 to August 2017, she traveled for free on a private jet, stayed in luxury hotels and visited New York’s poshest lounges without ever paying a cent of her own money.

According to the New York judge, she stole approximately $275,000.

Dancing with the Stars has never disclosed the salaries of its celebrity contestants.

But according to ParadeIt’s a nice amount. A recent report claimed that the winner could get as much as $295K.

According to several sources, including Variety, the starting salary for celebrities is $125,000.

But the reward increases if a star gets votes and stays in the competition.

They get an extra $10,000 per week if they stay on the show for more than two weeks.

If they make it to week four or five, the extra payment is $15,000. If they make it to week six or seven, they get an extra $20,000 a week. And if they make it to week eight or nine, they get an extra $30,000 a week.

If they make it to the semi-finals and finals, there will reportedly be an additional $50,000 prize each week.

That means the stars who make it to the finals could potentially earn $360,000, according to Parade. That’s the sum of 11 weeks of dancing.

However, in 2019, it was claimed that the salary was reduced so that the maximum the final three could earn was $295,000.

Anna was also reportedly paid $320,000 for the rights to her life story for a Netflix special about her.

The wildly popular Netflix series Inventing Anna stars Anna Chlumsky, Julia Garner and Arian Moayed.

This after fans criticized DWTS for adding the criminal Anna.

The con artist made her season 33 debut on Tuesday wearing a glitter-adorned ankle bracelet.

Social media was immediately flooded with angry messages about her participation on the show, with many criticizing the network for allowing the criminal to compete on the “famous dance floor.”

“She’s a fucking criminal,” wrote one outraged viewer on X, formerly Twitter.

“I hate Dancing With the Stars for letting this piece of trash onto their famous dance floor,” another added. “And her dancing is lame.”

‘Anna Delvey on the show is such a joke,’ read a third tweet. ‘You guys couldn’t find anyone else to cast? Ankle bracelet? WTF.’

Anna danced to Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter with her partner, professional dancer Ezra Sousa.

The jury gave her six points for her performance, for a total of 18 points. The audience was clearly less enthusiastic when they cheered her on than the other participants.

During a voice-over on the show, the criminal talked about her criminal past.

She said: ‘In 2017, I was charged with multiple counts of aggravated robbery. I’ve served my time and Dancing With the Stars is a way for people to see a different side of me.

“My history shows that I am quite determined. It is a good quality to channel into something positive.”

Anna explained that she wore the ankle bracelet because she “overstayed her visa because she was in prison.”

“It was hard to leave,” she added with a laugh. “I’ve reinvented myself many times. This time I’m going to be a ballroom dancer.”

Also appearing on the show are Olympic horse hero Stephen Nedoroscik, Tori Spelling, Bachelor Nation’s Joey Graziadei and Jenn Tran.

Anna posed as a wealthy heiress for years and embezzled $275,000 from a series of banks, hotels and private individuals.

She was arrested in 2017 and found guilty of grand larceny, second-degree theft, and theft of services.

When news leaked last month that Anna would be joining the show, many people expressed their outrage on social media.

‘This next celebrity is cheating her way onto the dance floor. She’s here to show her dancing skills aren’t a scam, it’s Anna Delvey and (partner)!’ someone sarcastically wrote on X.

Another said: ‘I had to make a quick comment on the #DWTS cast. Anna Delvey, really? Casting decisions like this are the reason [former longtime host] Tom Bergeron has retired.

Anna has said she hopes viewers will forgive her somewhat, despite her criminal past.

“Hopefully people will give me a chance to show what I can do. I’ve served my time and paid back my damages,” she told the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Although she was released from prison in February 2021, immigration authorities picked her up shortly after her departure, telling her that her visa had expired and that she had to return to her native Germany.

The Anna find inspiration was held in ICE custody for more than a year before a judge in October 2022 granted her permission to be detained at home while she fights deportation.

Her release conditions had to be modified so she could travel from New York to Los Angeles for the show’s filming.

During her debut performance, Anna conspicuously wore a shiny ankle bracelet fit for a dance hall.

“It’s actually not a big deal at all,” she told the AP after the premiere about her ankle monitor.

“It’s quite light and I asked them to tighten it so it doesn’t dangle. So it’s not too bad.”

“It’s the real star of the show, let’s face it,” joked her dance partner Ezra.

“It’s not like an ankle weight. It’s not like 20 pounds. It’s literally less than a pound and it’s not a big deal.”

Anna later acknowledged that her debut didn’t go entirely according to plan, telling AP that she felt she could have done “a little better.”

“I’m relieved it’s over,” she said. “I feel like my dancing could have been a little bit better, but I’m glad I did it and it was a great experience.”
