Meteorologist Steve Raleigh learns fate after wild video showed his son in violent parking lot confrontation with elderly couple

Meteorologist Steve Raleigh will not face charges after wild parking lot video captured his son violently confronting an elderly couple.

Prosecutors ruled Monday that the veteran Ohio weatherman did not violate the law during the road rage incident in the parking lot of the Montgomery Inn Boathouse in Cincinnati on June 22.

Raleigh, a meteorologist for WCPO TV, was with his sons Kyle and Carter when their Cadillac Escalade crashed into a Ford F-150 after they failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

Moments later, the driver of the Ford, Douglas Morrow, 79, lay on the ground next to his wife Lois, 76, who had suffered a fractured skull, a brain hemorrhage and a detached retina.

Pressure quickly mounted on Cincinnati police to explain why no arrests have been made since the incident. But now Clermont County District Attorney Mark Tekulve has said Raleigh has been cleared of the investigation.

“During this investigation, it was determined that criminal charges against Mr. Steve Raleigh are not warranted as there is no evidence that he violated any criminal laws. Accordingly, this investigation is closed as it relates to Mr. Steve Raleigh,” Tekulve.

Prosecutors are expected to present evidence to the Hamilton County grand jury about the other individuals involved in the violent incident, Tekulve noted.

The Cadillac involved in the confrontation is owned by the weatherman’s father-in-law, former Hamilton County sheriff and attorney Simon L Leis, Jr.

Carter, 28, was allegedly driving his grandfather’s car when it struck the Morrows’ car that day.

Stacey, the elderly couple’s daughter, previously said the famous family became enraged when her father decided to call the police because he smelled alcohol and suspected they had been drinking.

“These were locally known people and I believe they are above the law,” wrote Stacey, who posted a video of the incident online.

“I’m 100 percent convinced that one more blow would have killed her,” she said of her mother Lois.

During the encounter, Red Sox legend Kevin Youkilis was seen intervening.

The grainy footage showed a woman repeatedly yelling “Stop!” before Raleigh, dressed in a red Hawaiian shirt, pushed someone away.

“Someone please call 911,” the woman pleaded as the camera panned over the 79-year-old man clutching his head.

Then his unconscious wife came into view and we heard a man’s voice shout, “That’s ridiculous.”

A man, believed to be from Raleigh, was then seen standing over the defeated retiree and saying, “Kevin, listen to me, f*** that, f*** that.”

Youkilis then leaned over Lois to check on her condition when another voice was heard shouting, “Dude, are you serious, he hit the damn woman. She’s bleeding.”

“You’re a disgrace to the f***ing Red Sox brand,” someone shouted.

“Go back to Boston.”

Stacey wrote in her Facebook post that her mother “suffered the most severe injuries” during the fight.

‘My mother took the worst blows that night. She was in the UC hospital for a few days and is still receiving treatment.

‘She was knocked unconscious and had a concussion, a fractured skull, a brain bleed, a contusion on the back of her head that was stapled shut and the lens that was in her eye was loose and had to be replaced. She had extensive cuts and bruising on her arms and legs.

“My father also suffered a concussion and was knocked unconscious. I’m not going to say who’s responsible until they’re arrested and charged because I don’t want to hurt the case.

“I just want all the witnesses to come forward and make sure there is video because there were a lot of witnesses,” she said.

Youkilis subsequently took to Facebook to deny rumors that he had been with the Raleighs that night after being recognized in the footage, insisting he had stumbled upon the incident while in town to broadcast a Red Sox-Reds game.

“Unfortunately I was a little too late and I saw a series of terrible events take place,” he explains.

‘After what I saw, I wanted to help the two people on the ground and prevent others from getting hurt.

‘I snapped after seeing what I saw and used colorful language in the video.’

In an update on Facebook, Stacy thanked Youkilis for intervening on behalf of her parents.

“There were at least 50 people in the parking lot when this happened as the restaurant was about to close,” she wrote. “Only one person, Kevin Youkilis, saved my mother and stopped this attack.

“He was definitely her guardian angel that night. I believe he was there with them, but he was willing to fight for her!”

The Morrows claimed Raleigh tried to convince them not to call police, but when they said they would, one of his sons attacked their son Troy, the couple said. WKRC.

‘A few seconds later I hear from a distance: “Nobody is going to hit my father!” I look this way [left]someone who comes from this side [right] “He hits me in the side of the head; I stagger back; he lunges at me; he has both hands on my throat and he chokes me,” Troy said at a news conference shortly after the incident.

The couple stated they then tried to pull Raleigh’s son off of them, at which point they were thrown to the sidewalk.

On July 12, WCPO Vice President and General Manager Jeff Brogan said the station was “aware of the incident involving Steve Raleigh’s family.”

“Steve shared his side of the incident with our leadership. His story is consistent with the police report, which does not identify him by name, and with what we have seen on video,” he added in a statement.

“The video does not show the incident from start to finish. We will continue to monitor official findings.”

After it was announced that Raleigh would not be charged, he said he “appreciated the confirmation.”

“I appreciate the confirmation regarding my involvement. I would like to thank family, friends, colleagues and viewers for their patience and support. I look forward to returning to work soon,” he said.

Following the incident, Raleigh deleted his social media and disappeared from the air, but WCPO reported that he will soon return to his role as chief meteorologist.

An attorney for the Morrow family said, “We never suspected Steve Raleigh of committing a crime. Steve exercised poor judgment and may have committed civil wrongdoing, but not crimes.”

Stacey said FOX 19 She is unhappy with the decision not to charge Raleigh and hopes his son will suffer the consequences.
