Dwayne Johnson shares video of a fan who he inspired to lose 60 pounds… adding it’s ‘the best part of fame’

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shared an inspiring video on Instagram on Tuesday morning.

The 52-year-old movie star shared a video of himself meeting a young fan named Jonny Cleasby, who shared his story with The Rock during a meet and greet event.

“I just wanted to say thank you so much. You inspired me to lose 60 pounds by January,” Jonny said in the video.

He added, “There’s nothing more to me than what you do. I think you’re amazing,” while Dwayne replied, “Thank you so much. I appreciate that,” which comes after he looked unrecognizable on a film set.

Dwayne then said, “Tell me about your journey?” Jonny said, “Every day, running, lifting weights. I know I don’t look like this… I used to look bigger and I’ve definitely lost weight.”

“I listened to other people, but you were the most inspiring to me. I have all your stuff, I love everything. I wanted to say, thank you so much. Is there any way I can take a picture with you?”

The Rock agreed, saying, “Sure, man! Let’s do it!” He was also told that tomorrow is Jonny’s birthday, with the star wishing him a happy birthday before taking the photo.

Dwayne asked again how much weight he had lost and Jonny replied 60 pounds, while The Rock said, “You look amazing!”

“Thank you for sharing that with me. It means a lot,” Dwayne said as he gave Jonny a hug and said, “Keep up the great work.”

The Rock added to the caption of the post: ‘I know, I know this may sound corny… but y’all hear me say this all the time when it comes to stuff like this…’

He added that ‘meeting people and hearing about their journey of weight loss, mental health issues, fitness, dealing with loss, anxiety, depression, hard times etc. etc. moments like these deeply remind me that this is the best part of fame…’

“Keep up the good work Jonny Cleasby. Not only have you changed your own life, but your journey will change the lives of many others you will touch along the way,” he added.

“Congrats man, go grind some cake and tequila,” The Rock concluded in his post on Tuesday.

Johnson was recently seen in a still from his new film The Smashing Machine, A24’s 2025 biopic about retired mixed martial artist Mark Kerr.

The 52-year-old actor, who is half Samoan and half black, plays the half Irish and half Puerto Rican wrestler. He was in his 20s or 30s when he became a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Dwayne was de-aged and transformed by two-time Oscar winner Kazu Hiro, the same prosthetic makeup designer who transformed Bradley Cooper in Maestro (2023), Charlize Theron in Bombshell (2019) and Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour (2017).

He also returns as Maui in the live-action version of Moana and in the sequel to the animated hit.
