Why Frozen’s Josh Gad regrets using his own voice for popular Olaf character: ‘That was my first big mistake’
Josh Gad admitted she regrets lending his voice to the popular character Olaf.
The 43-year-old actor, who recently said the Chris Farley biopic is “very personal” to him, shared on Tuesday that he wishes “another voice” had been created for the snowman, as Frozen fans often recognize him in public.
“If I could do it over again, I wouldn’t have lent that snowman my voice. I would have created a different voice,” he said. His comments were heard in a clip shared with TikTok from Fan Expo Canada.
He provided the voice of Olaf for Disney’s Frozen franchise, the first film in 2013, and the highly anticipated sequel in 2016.

“People tell me I have a very unique voice. People seem to appreciate my voice, I try to give it when I can,” he said.
Frozen co-director Jennifer Lee previously admitted that the fan-favorite character was almost cut from the original film, according to Screen Crush.
She said the first response she got was, “Destroy the snowman.”
Luckily, Josh’s witty approach to the character caught the filmmakers’ attention and led to Olaf creating the role of the snowman that lead characters Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) made in their youth.
The main film was a box office success in 2013, grossing $1.2 billion worldwide.
Six years later, the long-awaited sequel also dominated the competition, grossing $1.45 billion.
A third installment of Disney’s animated film franchise is planned for release in theaters on November 24, 2027, it was announced last February.
More details about the film were revealed at this year’s D23 event in Anaheim, California.
Plot details for Frozen 3 have not yet been released, but the songwriters of the first two films, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, are returning, according to Variety.
“They kind of told us what they thought about it the day of,” the two told Collider in March of last year.
“It made us very excited. Now we have to let the wheels of Hollywood do their work, but we were very excited about their ideas.”
The studio is so confident in the success of the third installment that Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed on March 17 Good morning America last November that Frozen 4 is also being worked on.

“Well, I’ll give you a little surprise,” he said then. “Frozen 3 is in the works and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works as well.”
“But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. But Jenn Lee, who created Frozen, the original Frozen and Frozen 2, is working hard with her team at Disney Animation on not one, but actually two stories.”
As Ny Breaking.com previously reported, Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa) and Josh Gad (Olaf) will return in the third film. It is not yet known whether they will reprise their roles in the fourth installment.
