Manchester United are reportedly keen to sign one of their rising stars on a long-term deal.

Erik ten Hag’s men have had a mixed start to the season, having picked up six points from their first four league games. However, there have been some notable individual performances in the first month of the season.

And one player who has caught the eye has now been rewarded with an offer of a new contract.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are prepared to sign young winger Amad Diallo, 22, on a new contract in the coming months.

Amad is in the final year of his current contract, but United have no interest in letting him leave for free next summer after his impressive start to the season.

He has started in three of the Red Devils’ four matches so far, scoring a goal and providing an assist.

His assist came in United’s most recent match, which saw them get back on track after two straight defeats, when they beat Southampton 3-0 on Saturday.

Ten Hag has preferred Amad to youngster Alejandro Garnacho in most of United’s games this season and clearly sees the Ivorian as part of his long-term plans at Old Trafford.

Amad joined United from Atalanta in January 2021 for £37million, but was initially given little playing time and was loaned out to Rangers and Sunderland in successive seasons.

Last season he only played nine times in the league, but after a strong preparation he seems to have broken through to the first team in recent weeks.

Amad could be in action again tonight when United host Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Ten Hag won his first trophy at United by lifting the Carabao Cup in the 2022-23 season, but United were knocked out in the round of 16 by Newcastle last year.

Amad and co. will be looking to avoid another early elimination tonight, ahead of their next league match on Saturday against Crystal Palace.
