Marlon Humphrey heckled by Ravens fans in latest worrying post-game clash – as fears continue to rise over player safety in the NFL
Marlon Humphrey was booed by Ravens fans on Sunday after Baltimore’s dramatic loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Baltimore fans were not happy with their home opener after the team blew a 10-point lead in the final 10 minutes of the game. The loss left last year’s AFC title contenders at 0-2 after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1.
After the game, fans voiced their displeasure with their team outside M&T Bank Stadium. Humphrey was one of the players targeted.
“Stick to that podcast bro,” the fan yells as he stands on the barricade. “You put more energy into your podcast than you do on the field.”
“Every time I turn around, 44, 44,” the fan continued, referring to Humphrey’s jersey number. “Come on, hit ’em back bro. Lead by example, bro.”
A disappointed fan told Marlon Humphrey to ‘stay on that podcast’ after Sunday’s loss
Humphrey had eight solo tackles and two assists in the Ravens’ 26-23 loss, a step up from his two-tackle performance against Kansas City.
The disappointment came in the final minutes, however, with what became the Raiders’ game-winning play. With Vegas in the end zone, Gardner Minshew connected with Davante Adams for a touchdown.
Humphrey, guarding Adams, was unable to defend the pass despite having the wide receiver within range.
The fan in the viral clip then told a staff member, “Tell Marlon to stay off that podcast. I’m serious now.”
Another fan in the crown then calls safety Beau Brade for a photo. The aforementioned heckler then says, “He said he was planning on coming here,” before the video cuts off.
Humphrey failed to defend Davante Adams as the Raiders completed a 10-point comeback
The Ravens fan base wasn’t the only one to voice their disappointment early in the season. On September 8, Giants fans booed quarterback Daniel Jones after New York was routed 28-6 by the Vikings.
Angry Giants fans then burned their Jones jerseys as puppets in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium.
A fan was seen using non-stick spray to spread the flames across two of the quarterback’s jerseys on the asphalt.
Jones, who is in the second year of a four-year, $160 million contract, was heard booing from the more than 80,000 people who traveled to the Meadowlands on Sunday for the season opener.
In October 2020, Humphrey signed a five-year contract extension with Baltimore worth $97.5 million.
