Trump fans demand he get private security and ditch Secret Service after second assassination attempt in two months

Fans of former President Donald Trump are arguing that the Republican presidential candidate should quit the Secret Service and hire private security instead.

The comments follow a second assassination attempt on Trump in a two-month period.

On X, online commentators suggested that Trump could use military veterans — or even the Hells Angels biker gang — as protection instead of members of the Secret Service.

Former Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill, known for the killing of Osama bin Laden, also joined the discussion.

“Maybe we outsource private security for President Trump… for god’s sake,” O’Neill posted on X. “How many failures can one crew have? Let me know if you need me…”

The Twitter account @iAnonPatriot states that “thousands of veterans across the country are volunteering to protect Donald Trump as private security guards.”

O’Neill was one of those war veterans.

“I hope President Trump will consider employing personal security in addition to, or instead of, the Secret Service,” said another user, @janemuloli. “Free-spirited volunteers could also be a boon, to ensure there are enough people willing to protect him.”

Supporters of the former president are increasingly skeptical of the Secret Service. Some point out that Trump has been indicted by the federal government. How can a government agency protect him?

President Joe Biden blamed the Secret Service for the dire situation, saying it was under-resourced and saying Monday that the agency needed reinforcements.

“The Secret Service needs more help,” Biden said. “Congress should be responding to their needs.”

Trump has a large fan base among bikers and since his first campaign for the White House in 2016, an official group called ‘Bikers for Trump’ has existed.

A number of X users also indicated that Trump has the resources to purchase additional protection.

“Trump is wealthy and has significant financial resources; he can afford to hire private security for himself and his family,” X user @OscarNonis noted.

@Todayshowviewer agreed.

“Trump is a billionaire and he owns the golf club. There is no reason why he can’t provide additional security beyond the Secret Service,” the X user said.
