She revealed at the height of her success that she took the stage “in complete and utter terror,” in part because of her looks and due to the fact that she was secretly suffering from mononucleosis.

Mabel told MailOnline exclusively earlier this year, “When we’re on promo tours and tours, you use it insanely. And then fly.
“I kept thinking I had Covid last year, and all my PCRs have come back negative. And then I did a lot of testing because I was constantly tired and very, very swollen and would even run a fever.’
“It turns out I have a type of mononucleosis that I’ve had for over two years. So when I’m tired and stressed, I get mononucleosis. And I still have it. I took a test the day before. It’s still there.’
The infection can also be known as mono or the kissing disease and usually people get better on their own, but the symptoms can be relieved by resting, taking painkillers and drinking plenty of water.

Mabel also revealed that she suffered from stress as she struggled with public scrutiny of social media, which left her terrified when she took the stage.
The singer added: “The social media hassle for me had become too much, like people were just critical of my appearance.
“I would get all obsessive about it and I just wanted to go on stage in complete and utter fear because I would have seen one comment about something.
‘Then you go on stage afraid that people will say bad things and you don’t perform to your best.
“And then it becomes a catch 22 because people say terrible things, and you think, ‘I kind of agree with you, that wasn’t a great achievement.'”
