Trump’s ‘eating the dogs’ comment is turned into a viral dance

The internet wins again as Donald Trump’s bizarre comments about Haitian migrants eating cats and dogs have somehow become a viral dance on TikTok.

Trump said migrants in Springfield, Ohio, were “eating pets.” The unsubstantiated claim first surfaced on social media during his race with Kamala Harris.

While much of the MAGA internet has turned the phrase into an AI-inspired “Pets for Trump” meme, TikTok creators have managed to turn it into a new dance craze.

DailyMail.com discovered at least a dozen people who played the song – created by a liberal account called ‘Casa Di Music’ with over half a million followers – in the latest move.

While there is no consistency in the moves, some people have dubbed the former president’s infamous statements, created group choreographies, and even included their own cats in the videos.

“Some users are saying the song is the new ‘Lesbian Anthem’ because of the comment about ‘eating the cat,'” wrote journalist Collin Rugg.

The captions used by TikTokers included “Eat the Cat 2024,” “They’re eating WHAT???,” and “We can’t take nothing seriously.”

The moment has become the most memorable and infamous of Tuesday night’s match.

“In Springfield, they eat the dogs. The people who came here eat the cats,” the former president said. “They eat the pets of the people who live there.”

Harris muttered, “What? This is unbelievable,” before adding, “what an extreme,” and laughing.

Social media users jumped on the bizarre discussion and began sharing dozens of memes under the hashtag #PetsForTrump.

While some openly ridiculed the Republican candidate, others appeared to be embraced by Trump’s supporters.

In a video featuring AI-generated images, a dog is seen holding a banner that reads “Haitians Ate My Mother.”

This is followed by a roll of photos of pets holding signs that read “Vote Trump” and “Trump 2024.”

Springfield has been a hot topic in the immigration debate since thousands of Haitian migrants came to the city in 2020 to fill job vacancies.

The Haitians, who were already legally resident in the country, were willing to do the manual labor work that the locals were not so enthusiastic about and moved to the city.

Within a few years, 20,000 immigrants arrived, increasing Springfield’s population to just 58,000 in 2020.

According to an immigration FAQ page on the city’s website, the immigrants are legally resident in Clark County and are eligible to apply for Temporary Protected Status. It estimates the total number of immigrants in Clark County to be between 12,000 and 15,000.

However, their arrival has put a strain on medical facilities and the education system, leading to debates and rumours on social media.

When Trump initially made his comments about migrants eating pets, ABC News debate moderator David Muir jumped in and said, “I just want to clarify that you brought up Springfield, Ohio.

“And ABC News reached out to the city manager there. He told us there are no credible reports of specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals.”

It was one of the most dramatic moments of a monumental night in the 2024 race, as Harris landed a coveted sponsorship from Taylor Swift and was universally declared the winner of the showdown.

She went into last night’s debate with the pressure of speaking to an audience expected to number in the tens of millions.

Harris surprised Trump by shaking his hand before they took the podium.

Then the pleasantries were over.

Trump, who just a few weeks ago thought he was on his way to victory, responded to Harris’ pressure by resorting to the same insults and profanity he uses at his rallies.

Harris responded by looking on with amusement and occasionally exclaiming “come on,” before declaring that she represents a fresh start after the “mess” of the Trump presidency — and saying, “We’re not going back.”

Trump has since stressed that there will be no new debate between the two before the election.
