Rising country star Joshua Ray Walker, 33, reveals cancer has spread to both his lungs

Country star Joshua Ray Walker shared the heartbreaking news that his cancer has spread to both lungs.

Joshua, 33, who announced last year that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer, let his fans know via Instagram earlier this week that the disease had spread.

“Hey everyone! I have some good news and some bad news to share,” the Dallas, Texas singer began his caption.

‘The good news is that I am done with chemo! It has been extremely tough and I want to thank you all so much for your support during this experience.

‘My body has handled it quite well and I have started to build up my strength and immune system!’

He said he had also received bad news: the cancer had spread to his lungs.

“The bad news is that after tests to check the status of my cancer after treatment, multiple lymph nodes of various sizes were found in both lungs,” he explained.

“Before I started chemo, I was told that I had a 90 percent chance of having positive post-treatment test results,” he continued.

‘So I wasn’t prepared to find a completely new growth in a new organ.

“Unfortunately, this means my cancer will likely be downgraded to stage 4,” Joshua said.

“I am having a lung biopsy and will be starting radiation soon. I wish I had more information to share, but I am still waiting for an appointment with a radiation oncologist after my biopsy surgery.

“I will keep you informed as best I can and I will continue to do my utmost,” he promised.

Before the cancer in his lungs was discovered, Joshua had a 90 percent chance of recovering from his colon cancer.

‘The odds have certainly changed, but I’m not going to publish them here.

“It seems defeatist and unnecessary. I’ll tell you what they were after I beat them. I’ve always lived life to the fullest and I will continue to do so,” he declared.

He admitted that he was in financial trouble due to the astronomical cost of the treatment.

“When times are tough, my instinct is to figure out how to survive financially. I work harder to make sure that I and my loved ones have the basic necessities,” he explained.

‘This quality is very useful in life, but it makes it difficult to find peace when the difficulties in life are not only financial in nature.

‘I find it hard to ask for help, even when I believe it will be given with pleasure. I am launching a GoFundMe so that I can focus solely on my health and relationships during this precious time.

“I thank everyone so much in advance for their continued love and support. I love you all so much,” the post concluded.

The singer is loved for hits like Lot Lizard and Sexy After Dark. He was also the opening act for The Killers and toured the entire country.

In December 2023, Joshua was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Since then, he has undergone “extensive surgery” and six months of chemotherapy, in addition to a series of tests, procedures and doctor visits.

As of September 11, his GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $67,000 from 932 donors.

Colon cancer has become an epidemic among people under 50, with rates skyrocketing since the new millennium, DailyMail.com previously reported.
