Young girl dies after being hit by car at East Lismore

A 15-year-old girl has died after being hit by a van.

The teenager was walking on the Bruxner Highway in East Lismore, on the New South Wales north coast, when she was hit by a trailer at around 5pm on Wednesday.

Witnesses administered first aid before emergency services arrived and rushed her to Lismore Base Hospital, where she died.

The 42-year-old male driver of the pickup and trailer was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory check-ups.

“Officers from the Richmond Police District have established a crime scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident,” New South Wales Police said in a statement.

No charges have been filed.
