Fan favorite series The Terror is now streaming on Netflix in the US. Viewers are calling it ‘absolutely brilliant’
‘Just finished watching The Terror on Netflix and absolutely loved it. Highly recommended if you like high seas drama, There Will Be Blood villains, icebergs and creepy shit,’ wrote one user.
‘THE TERROR on Netflix is the pinnacle of Dude TV. Old wooden ships. Historical nonfiction. A scary monster that doesn’t “represent society.” Heavyweights from top to bottom, including Tobias Menzies playing a real-life hero.
“That good good AMC product. That nasty kind of sub-prestige TV,” posted one user on X, formerly known as Twitter.
‘I watched The Terror on Netflix and damn, I still love it. Great British costume drama series. I’m dying for more Arctic expedition media!’ cheered another.
‘If you haven’t seen The Terror on Netflix you should. Sort of a slow burn supernatural thriller/horror. They only have season one because it’s not a Netflix series but the second season is unrelated and even better,’ added another.
“Absolutely brilliant. Don’t watch if you’re not in the mood to be terrified,” another fan advised.
The first season of the gripping series is loosely based on the true story of two British explorers who set sail in 1845, but disappeared in the Arctic three years later and were never seen again. Wrecks of the ships were found in 2014 and 2016, and historians are unsure what happened to the crew.
It follows the fictional voyages of the British Royal Navy’s polar research ships, HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, as they attempt to navigate the Northwest Passage.
The horror series from that time, made by AMC, is based on the 2007 novel of the same name by Dan Simmons
