Pip Edwards announces shock career move as she returns to the iconic Aussie brand she helped build with her ex Dan Single

Pip Edwards has left PE Nation, the athleisure brand she co-founded, to return to her fashion roots.

The 44-year-old Sydney fashion designer and socialite on Monday announced her surprise return to Ksubi, the Australian streetwear brand she helped build with her ex Dan Single two decades ago.

The news comes just weeks after the PE Nation co-founder made the shock announcement that she was stepping down as creative director of the popular athleisure brand.

“As fate would have it, today I announce my return to Ksubi as Creative Director, a full circle moment,” Pip wrote in her announcement, attaching a photo of herself posing with Ksubi CEO Craig King, wearing black jeans and a plain white T-shirt.

“Ksubi has been at the heart of the global cultural zeitgeist since its inception, thriving at the intersection of fashion, art and music,” Pip continued in her caption.

“I was part of the original crew 20 years ago and I am so excited to rejoin the talented team at Ksubi and contribute to their already impressive global success. Pip++.”

Pip’s inner circle, consisting of influential designers, models and media personalities, came out en masse to congratulate her.

Melbourne model and ‘Queen WAG’ Bec Judd wrote: ‘How cute! I still have my Ksubi jeans from 20 years ago.’

‘Amazing!!!!!!’, commented Pip’s best friend and KIIS FM radio presenter Jackie O Henderson. ‘Sooooo happy for you my beautiful girl. What a team.’

“How wonderful,” said Australian journalist and podcast host Jess Rowe, adding a series of heart emojis.

Dani Michelle, celebrity stylist to Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, added: ‘OMGGGG I’M RUNNING TO KSUBI RIGHT NOW’.

Pips’ ex-husband Dan Single founded the edgy denim brand, then called Tsubi, in 1999 with his friends Gareth Moody and George Gorrow.

In 2004 she was hired as a ‘sexytary’ and this unusual role turned out to be the opportunity of a lifetime for Pip, once known for her mullet and rat tail hairstyle when she opened Tsubi’s first store in Bondi Beach.

Her appointment to the company would change her life in more ways than one. Not only did she rise through the ranks of Ksubi and become its lead designer, she also fell in love with Dan and had a child with him, the now 18-year-old Justice Single.

Dan now works as a DJ in Byron Bay and is a familiar face on the town’s social circuit. When he performs at local nightclubs and festivals, he goes by the stage name ‘Dangerous Dan’.

Dan and Pip were once the ‘It’ couple in the Australian fashion industry, but split in 2008.

The co-parents denied speculation they had rekindled their romance in 2022 after the two were spotted spending “a lot of time together” at the Paco Rabanne dinner for Australian Fashion Week.

In 2008, Pip joined Sass & Bide as a senior creative and accessories designer. Four years later, in 2012, she was hired by General Pants Co. as design director.

Both roles were crucial to the development of her design skills, business acumen and personal style.

In 2016, she launched PE Nation with her former business partner Claire Tregoning, capitalising on the emerging trend of treating sportswear as fashion at just the right time.

She would become the brand’s most powerful billboard, acting as a walking billboard for the label at every opportunity.

Last month, Pip announced that she was taking a step back from the hugely popular fashion label.

The designer announced that while she will continue to play a key role at the brand, she will no longer hold the position of creative director she held following the departure of co-founder Claire Greaves in March.
