In a candid series of Instagram stories, Kelsey, 30, said she was having an “emotional day” and said that despite being in tears, she had to put on a brave face for their children.
Kelsey further described grief as a “roller coaster of emotions” and said brain cancer “torn their world to pieces.”
‘Brain cancer tore our world apart’: Tom Parker’s widow Kelsey burst into tears on Tuesday as she had an ’emotional morning’, describing her grief as a ‘roller coaster of emotions’
“I thought I’d jump on it, I’m having a bit of an emotional morning again,” Kelsey began in a clip.
“Um, this is all I can describe sadness as, it’s a rollercoaster of emotions, one day I wake up and I’m very, very happy and other days, like today, I just don’t wake up happy.”
“I feel so sad for my life and that of my children because all Tom wanted to do was be a husband and father and he didn’t get that opportunity and I want to create as much awareness for brain cancer as I can. ‘
She added: “It tore my world apart, our world apart and I have a morning… eventually I have to be a mother to my children now.”
Tragic: The Wanted star Tom died on March 30 at age 33 after battling stage four glioblastoma brain cancer
“Um, this is all I can describe sadness as, it’s a rollercoaster of emotions, one day I wake up and I’m really happy and other days like today I just don’t wake up happy,” she said.
Kelsey also shared a video on her Instagram page, which turned out to be from Tom’s documentary Inside My Head.
‘Our story, if you can, please support Stand Up to Cancer UK. It was so important for Tom to share his story to help support this cause, and I am grateful to be able to continue this for him,” she wrote.
Kelsey burst into tears at the National Television Awards on Thursday night when a clip was shown from Tom’s documentary Inside My Head – which was nominated in the Best Authored Documentary category.
“I feel so sad about my life and that of my children because all Tom wanted to do was be a husband and father and he didn’t get that chance,” she said.
Inside My Head missed the gong after Kate Garraway’s Caring for Derek took home the award in that category.
But Kelsey said it was a chance to honor his legacy.
Kelsey’s husband Tom – who rose to fame in the band The Wanted – died on March 30 at age 33 of stage four glioblastoma brain cancer after being diagnosed with the disease in October 2020.
Kelsey posted an old photo of her and Tom on Friday, telling her 368k followers about the awards ceremony: “Just wanted to thank you for all your support and votes for the NTAs. My inbox is full of sweet messages.
“Yesterday was a big, overwhelming day. Walking the red carpet solo – another first without Tom. As always, I got my positivity up and went for it. Grateful to have Tom’s parents and the boys from The Wanted by my side.

Always a winner: She took to Instagram on Friday after the awards ceremony and noted that while they didn’t win, it was a chance to ‘celebrate Tom’s legacy’
“We may not have won, but we still have a chance to celebrate Tom’s legacy. Regardless of the outcome, he will always be our winner ❤️ #PositiveParkersForever.’
Kelsey recently revealed that she will be making an ITV documentary about grief and following her life since The Wanted star’s death from brain cancer.
Kelsey Parker: Life After Tom will see her cameras in her home allow her to follow her very personal journey of grief as she hopes to connect with people in similar situations, including other famous faces.
Throughout the six-part ITVBe series, Kelsey tries death cafes, grief yoga and other methods of coping with loss, exploring her grieving process as she tries to rebuild her life without her husband.
She revealed she is currently filming as she described it as a “rollercoaster ride,” but shared her hopes the series can help other people.
The documentary will unwaveringly look at bereavement and will confront death with compassion, empathy, emotional candor and some humor, it said.
