Wakerley: Shattered mother breaks her silence after baby boy was found dead at Brisbane daycare centre – as harrowing theory about the one-year-old’s final moments

A mother of a baby boy who died in a daycare center says she is struggling to cope with the sudden death of her only son.

Riley Ma was found unconscious at the facility in Wakerley, in Brisbane’s east, at around 3.30pm on Monday and could not be resuscitated.

The one-year-old appeared to be in a cheerful mood when he was dropped off at the shelter around 7:30 a.m.

Just hours later, Riley’s father received the terrifying phone call that the boy could not be saved, despite the best efforts of emergency services.

Riley is believed to have had a medical condition.

His mother is devastated and says she can’t understand what has happened. She is still in shock that her only son is gone.

“My husband and I loved our baby very much,” she told the Courier post.

“He is my everything.”

The 36-year-old Chinese woman claimed emergency services did not give her the chance to say goodbye to Riley after she rushed to the centre on Monday afternoon.

She also claimed that her husband was able to hug Riley before his body was taken away.

“I can’t drink, I can’t eat, I can’t sleep. I just miss my little boy,” she said.

According to Katrina Zhang, a close friend of the family, Riley appeared to be struggling during his final moments.

Ms Zhang said Riley’s lips were purple and his fists were clenched tightly.

She said emergency services were already on the scene when Riley’s father arrived.

Riley’s mother says she faces the difficult task of telling her mother, who has cancer, that her beloved grandson has died.

She has told her mother that Riley is ill, but she admits that her mother will soon know about the tragedy.

Police are investigating Riley’s death and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
