Two teenage boys charged with murder of 13-year-old Jahziah Coke stabbed to death in Oldbury

Two teenage boys have been charged with the murder of 13-year-old stabbing victim Jahziah Coke.

The young man was found with fatal injuries after police were called to a house on Lovett Avenue in Oldbury, five miles west of Birmingham city centre in the West Midlands, at around 4pm on August 29.

In a tribute issued by West Midlands Police, the 13-year-old’s mother said: ‘Jahziah was a very polite, kind and family-oriented young man.

“He was very loving and always smiling. His smile lit up the room. He was very kindhearted.”

Emergency services attempted to treat his injuries at the scene, but despite their efforts they were unable to save him.

Police arrested two teenagers, whose ages have not been disclosed, on suspicion of murder on Sunday. The boys, whose names cannot be released for legal reasons, have now been charged.

A 40-year-old man who was also arrested by police is accused of assisting a perpetrator.

All three are expected to appear before Birmingham magistrates later today.

Police say they are not looking for anyone else involved in Jahziah’s death.

TrAfter the attack, balloons were left outside the house and friends of the teenager organised a balloon release in his memory.

Friends released blue balloons and lit blue and red flares outside the house, which was still within a police cordon, on Sunday evening.

An image shared on social media showed friends also writing ‘RIP ZI’ in tea lights on the lawn.

The family is receiving support from specialist officers who are continuing to appeal for more information about the tragedy.

Detectives have reviewed CCTV footage in the area but are still keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam, doorbell, camera or phone footage that could assist with their investigation.
