Audi Italy chief, 62, dies in 213-meter fall while climbing solo in Alps
The director of Audi Italy has died after falling 213 metres from a mountain while climbing alone in the Alps.
Fabrizio Longo, director of Audi Italia, was walking in the Cima Payer on Mount Adamello on Saturday when he fell.
The 62-year-old man, an experienced climber, was reportedly equipped with steel cables, ladders and other aids along the way.
However, a helicopter team found his body about 210 meters down in a crevasse after another climber saw him fall and called emergency services.
The Public Prosecution Service will now investigate his death and a date for the funeral will be set after Longo’s death. body is released to his family.
