Oasis predict their own prophecy as they insist they are ‘the best band on the planet’ in resurfaced interview from the height of Definitely Maybe
It seems Oasis predicted their own success, as a new video sees them claiming they are the ‘best band in the world’.
The Gallagher brothers announced their groundbreaking tour earlier this week, as fans prepare for a bloodbath this weekend when tickets go on sale.
And while everyone is using the word Oasis, Liam never doubted that this moment would come, having made some bold predictions in the ’90s.
When the presenter spoke to Zoe Ball in 1994, she asked the duo: ‘You are considered the best band of the moment. Is that all true?’
Barely finishing her question, Liam snapped, “Yeah. We’re the best band on the planet today. That’s a fact.”

Noel explained that while the band looked like an overnight success to the public, they had actually been together for three and a half years, describing it as a “long struggle.”
He added: ‘We’re just taking it as it is because we deserve all the praise we’re getting at the moment, because we’re writing the best songs.’
But Liam’s confidence didn’t stop there as he laid out their bold plans for the future, which are now likely to come true.
The rock star said, “We just want to be the biggest band in the world, today, for today, and that’s it, end of story.”
‘And we want all the things that go with it. Oh, I want to be a big pop star and I want to do a lot of people’s heads, because they’re like, “Look at him, look at him,” and I’m like, “meh.”
“You know what I mean, but I want it and I’m not ashamed of it. A lot of people are ashamed of all the success they get and they say, ‘Oh, I didn’t really want it.’
‘Of course you wanted to, because that’s what you do it for, you do it, it doesn’t matter if you’re in a band or something.’
The band were known for their wild antics at the time and when Zoe arrives at the hotel to interview the band members, she is shocked to find that the room has not been destroyed.

‘I’m a little disappointed because I came in expecting the place to be completely trashed. But I came in and you’re both asleep and it’s actually quite neat.
“Is this all a big lie? Do you really destroy hotel rooms?” Zoe asked.
“No,” Liam replied, before Noel confirmed: “Yes, he does.” And Liam fought back: “No, I don’t.”
