Outrage over ‘extreme’ school volleyball practice that left students covered with bruises and blisters

Parents at a Pennsylvania school are furious over “extreme” volleyball practice that left their children covered in bruises and blisters.

As record temperatures continue, school districts across the country are taking extra precautions to protect students. But parents are accusing the Woodland Hills High School volleyball coach of endangering their child’s health.

Will Safran, a parent who lives in Woodland Hills, is furious after his daughter returned from volleyball practice with serious hand injuries.

The coach allegedly required the players to do 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups every night and send her videos. Because some didn’t do it, the coach allegedly made the entire team do “a lap around the track doing burpees and a lap around the track doing bear crawls,” he told local ABC. WHATAE.

“It was 95 degrees. Their hands were right on the ground, on the rough ground. All the girls had cuts and blisters on their hands and when they tried to ask them to stop or do it in the grass, they said ‘if you ask again, you’ll get another round,'” Safran said. WPXI.

“It’s child abuse, it’s just child abuse, that’s how I look at it,” Safran told WPXI.

“When I picked up my daughter, she and her best friend showed me their hands. Their blisters were still completely black and there was dirt under the blisters.”

Safran is furious that a coach who has only been on the job for a month is treating high school students in such a manner.

He reported the incident to the district and demanded that the coach be fired.

“The district is aware, investigating and is keeping this confidential,” Woodland Hills School Superintendent Daniel Castagna told WTAE in an email.

The district has acknowledged the complaint and is investigating the matter, but details remain confidential.

Tuesday’s training was canceled as parents gathered to seek answers.
