The 55-year-old Fantasy singer released a heartbreaking statement Monday announcing the deaths of her 63-year-old brother and 87-year-old mother, saying her “heart is broken.”

Sources said TMZ on Tuesday that the Grammy winner had not contacted Alison prior to her passing, and was instead with her mother in the week leading up to her death.

Finally, the artist added, “I appreciate everyone’s love, support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

The cause of death of her sister and mother has not yet been released. However, Alison’s close friend, Dave Barker, said The American Sun that Alison ‘received home care for the last three weeks of her life.’

She had problems with her ‘internal organs’ and Barker added: ‘I have known her for nine years and as her friend and in recent months also as her carer I will miss her terribly…’

Carey had a strained relationship with her mother, Patricia, and with her sister Alison, from whom she later became estranged.

The star also has a brother, Morgan Carey, 64, and their father, Alfred, an opera singer, died in 2002 at the age of 72. Mariah’s parents separated when she was three years old.
