Football legend Sonny Bill Williams looked the part of a devoted father as he was pictured with his newborn son at Sydney airport on Sunday.

Williams recently became a father for the fifth time and named his son Mohammed, a nod to his Islamic faith.

The football star had the biggest smile on his face on Sunday as he was photographed in public for the first time with his new baby after arriving at Sydney airport with his family.

‘SBW’ confirmed the news of the birth earlier this month via social media, while the international cross-code star and his wife Alana have kept the baby a secret in recent months.

Presumably only family members and close friends knew the couple were pregnant, with the Channel Nine commentator and his former model wife both choosing not to find out the gender until after the baby was born.

In an Instagram reelWilliams told his four children – daughters Iman and Aisha and sons Zaid and Essa – that they were getting another brother or sister.

“Is mommy pregnant?” one of his children asks in the clip, which was posted only on Friday.

Williams then told his followers that he and his wife were “punishment-sensitive,” before revealing a beaming Alana with a clearly visible baby bump.

The video continued with the couple discussing possible names for a boy or girl, with Williams being tasked with naming his son.

Williams, a devout Muslim, was then seen praying in a blue robe at the hospital, before saying it had been a “long nine months” and that he was “hoping for a smooth process”.

Mohammed Williams, born on July 17, closes the film with his proud father in his arms.

“Four kilos, healthy boy and healthy mother,” Williams says, beaming with pride.

“May Allah bless Muhammad and raise him to be a strong, just man.”

Williams made his NRL debut for the Bulldogs in 2004 at the age of 18 and became an instant sensation.

That same year he won the championship, but three years later he left the professional league to play rugby in France, with Toulon.

His sporting talent was so exceptional that Williams won the World Cup with the All Blacks in 2011 and 2015. He also won the NRL championship for the second time in 2013, this time with the Roosters.

Williams was also talented in boxing, winning nine out of ten fights as a heavyweight boxer.
