Angel Reese and Chicago Sky slip to agonizing last-gasp defeat at the hands of Olympic gold medalists Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces
Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky suffered a painful 77-75 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday afternoon.
The star player scored 11 points and grabbed 22 rebounds, tying Tina Charles’ record for most double-doubles in a season by a rookie in WNBA history.
But the Sky rookie’s record-breaking performance couldn’t prevent her team from being defeated by the Aces in the final second of a dramatic fourth quarter.
Sky managed to tie the game with the reigning WNBA champions late in the third quarter, but Olympic gold medalists Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson ultimately proved too strong for Chicago.
The Aces went through the opening minutes of the fourth quarter and seemed to leave the home team far behind.

But Chennedy Carter came out on top with a stunning 3-pointer to tie the score 75-75 with 1.1 seconds left, sending the home crowd in Wintrust Arena into a frenzy.
However, any hope Carter had raised in the Chicago Arena was quickly dashed by Wilson, who made a layup at the final whistle to secure the win, bringing her total to 20 points and 18 rebounds in the game, in yet another MVP-worthy performance.
Plum added 18 points, while Megan Gustafson contributed 13 in her first start for the team.
Meanwhile, Carter led the Sky, adding 21 points to Reese’s 11.
More to come.
