Fields of Mistria players want to ‘fuck the dragon’
Fields of Mistriaa new farming sim and RPG inspired by the Harvest Moon series and Stardew Valleycontains a fair number of charms. The world features blooming pink and purple flowers, a witch’s bathhouse decorated with crystals, and a lively cast of characters ready to invite you in and help your character settle in. Of the NPCs, one in particular has caught the attention of players. It’s a dragon named Caldarus – and, well, now players want to fuck him.
Similar to Stardew Valleyand, Fields of Mistria has a romance system where you can get to know and date certain NPCs. Most of the characters you can date are regular old folks like Reina, the bubbly town cook, or March, the moody blacksmith. However, as it turns out, there is at least one unusual option in the dating pool in Mistria. It’s Caldarus, the spirit of a dragon who inhabits a dragon statue on your farm. You meet him early in the game, after he appears to you in a dream and asks you to help restore Mistria. While Caldarus may seem ethereal in nature – up until now, players have only been able to interact with him through his statue – he’s perfectly dateable.
We know this because, like every other romantic NPC, he has a little heart next to his name indicating he is eligible to be single. In response to this, people have been going crazy over the possibility of dating and possibly fucking the dragon. One person in the Fields of Mistria subreddit said: “When do I get to fuck the dragon? Doesn’t matter if it’s a girl or a boy, I gotta copy my boy ass from Shrek.” Mods have since removed the post, but the link lives on with over 190 upvotes.
Likewise, fans on TikTok have also been sharing videos questioning the dragon’s fuckability, and in some cases lusting after it — like the person in the video below, who says he has a crush on Caldarus.
Others just want to show their devotion to Caldarus. The person below shared a video of how they affirm him every day.
Some people have created art in honor of Caldarus, even theorizing that the dragon will eventually turn human.
Unfortunately, we don’t know what the Caldarus romance will ultimately look like or whether players will actually be able to marry the dragon. Fields of Mistria is currently in early access and players can only expand the romance options to four of the planned 10 hearts.
This should allow players to see new interactions with the dateable characters, but likely won’t show the conclusion of any of the relationships, as the game’s relationship menu only shows a maximum of 10 hearts. As a result, we don’t yet know exactly where those relationships will take players. Polygon reached out to Fields of Mistria creator NPC Studio to ask further questions about the romance options with Caldarus. The studio did not respond to comment, but we will update this article if we hear back.
So if you’re one of those players who absolutely wants to fuck the dragon, you’ll just have to wait for the developers to update the game to see if that’s possible.
