Engadine stabbing: Shocking details emerge about stabbing rampage after driver allegedly crashed into a sedan and knifed three people – before turning the blade on himself

A motorist who allegedly crashed a car and went on a stabbing spree in Sydney’s south stabbed his female passenger, a Good Samaritan and a police officer before stabbing himself, witnesses said.

Emergency services rushed to Old Bush Road, just off the Princess Highway near Engadine, at around 9.15am on Sunday following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

A witness told Daily Mail Australia the 55-year-old alleged knifeman was driving a white sedan onto the Princes Highway when he was hit by a blue car.

He said a bystander rushed to the white car to help and discovered the 40-year-old female passenger had been stabbed.

The driver of the white vehicle then allegedly stabbed the Good Samaritan.

‘He [the alleged knifeman] “He was ranting and then the police came and arrested him and shouted ‘get out of the way’ and he tried to harm himself and cut his wrist and throat,” the witness said.

‘Then they chased him to my house and tried to resuscitate him.

“He looked pretty bad. He lost a lot of blood.”

Cronulla Sharks chairman Steve Mace was on his way to a football match on Sunday when he witnessed the car crash.

Concerned for the occupants, he jumped out of his vehicle and ran to the white sedan to provide assistance.

“I heard the man screaming in the car and then I heard his partner screaming even louder. I tried to open the door and eventually got it open,” he told the Daily Telegraph.

According to Mace, the alleged knifeman was angry with his female passenger and said that “she had changed the radio station.”

Witnesses reported seeing the white car driving through the area at high speed just before the accident.

The alleged knifeman, 55, was treated at the scene by paramedics and has since been arrested.

The 40-year-old woman was taken to St. George Hospital with multiple injuries.

The Good Samaritan was taken to Liverpool Hospital, reportedly suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen.

The male police officer is being treated after suffering a serious cut to his wrist during his arrest.

A witness told Daily Mail Australia he initially thought the stabbing and the car crash were two separate incidents because they happened at two locations about 200 metres apart.

He said he saw a blue and white car crash on the Princes Highway before another man was arrested at a black Hyundai further away.

“The accident happened at the traffic lights and there was a man there yelling and swearing for about 20 minutes,” he said.

‘Then all the medical stuff and the officers came in. The next thing you know, they were running to a black Hyundai 200 yards away and arresting a man at the car.

‘To me it looked like they were already following him because the officers were close by. I thought they had a warrant for his arrest.

He was wearing a white shirt at the time [moments later] “It was all red.”

Police used a taser in arresting the alleged stabber.

The incident caused traffic chaos as police were inundated with reports from shocked bystanders who said they saw ‘blood everywhere’.

The Mitsubishi lay collapsed on the road after the terrible collision. The wreckage of the vehicle was scattered over several meters at the intersection.

The white sedan was also badly damaged after the vehicle mounted the sidewalk at the nearby zebra crossing.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene to help the injured passengers. Fire and rescue crews were also sent to the scene.

A passenger was carried on a stretcher from a NSW ambulance as emergency workers held a large dark green sheet to block the view.

Princess Highway is closed in both directions between Farnell Avenue and Loftus-Heathcote Road.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area. Police are investigating the incident.
