Alejandro Garnacho goal ruled out for one of the most bizarre offside calls you’ll see as unlucky Joshua Zirkzee suffers nightmare moment in Man United loss to Brighton

  • Alejandro Garnacho thought he scored for Man United to put them 2-1 up
  • However, VAR intervened and disallowed the goal due to a strange offside decision.
  • Joshua Zirkzee was the unlucky player who did not approve of the decision

Alejandro Garnacho thought he had put Manchester United ahead after converting a smooth Red Devils attack to put them 2-1 up against Brighton.

Unfortunately, Joshua Zirkzee was in the wrong place at the wrong time and got in the way of the shots, resulting in one of the most extreme offside decisions ever.

Erik ten Hags’ men countered and Bruno Fernandes passed the ball to United’s first-half goalscorer Amad Diallo. Diallo then walked upfield and passed the ball back to his captain.

Fernandes then fires a ball across the penalty area, but the ball misses Joshua Zirkzee, but he does shoot nicely to Garnacho, who fires the ball towards goal.

The ball ended up in the back of the net, but to the dismay of Manchester United players and fans, VAR stepped in to tell a different story. Before Garnacho’s shot on goal could find the back of the net, the ball hit Zirkzee and ended up in the back of the net.

However, during the exuberant celebration, VAR intervened and revealed that the ball had actually gone into the goal via a pass from Joshua Zirkzee.

After reviewing the replays, VAR ruled that Zirkzee was offside and the goal was disallowed.

More to come.
