AOC reveals which Democrat she believes is driving Donald Trump and J.D. Vance ‘nuts’

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she thinks Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz is driving Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance “crazy.”

“I think Trump and Vance think they have some kind of monopoly on masculinity,” the progressive lawmaker said in an interview, “and Walz has shown up.”

“He’s a football coach. He was the head of the gay-straight alliance as a football coach,” she told comedian Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show.”

“He’s like, ‘Actually, this is weird, and why are you acting like this?’ And I think it drives them crazy, because he’s showing a different way to be a genuine man in America.”

Walz was named Kamala Harris’ running mate less than three weeks ago, but before he stepped into the political spotlight, he was already being praised for calling Trump and Vance “weird.”

AOC’s speech came a day after the Minnesota governor gave his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, in which he referenced his time as a coach and turned the speech into a pep talk filled with football metaphors.

Before he took the stage, players from the former high school football team he coached came forward in uniforms to introduce him to America. The crowd held up signs that read “Coach Walz.”

Trump responded to Walz’s speech this week in an interview with Fox & Friends Thursday morning.

“They call him coach. He’s a semi-coach if he’s coached football for a while. This guy is a lightweight,” Trump said.

Governor Walz has been praised for Democrats treating Republicans as “weird.” During his acceptance speech on Wednesday, he called their agenda “weird” but also “dangerous,” while also using a number of football metaphors from his high school coaching days.

The Republican presidential candidate has not exactly responded positively to being called “weird” in recent weeks, calling the Minnesota Democrat “weird.”

“This crazy guy. You know, he said we’re ‘weird.’ That JD and I are ‘weird.’ I think we’re very normal people,” Trump said earlier this week.

“He’s weird. Have you ever seen him get on stage and act crazy? Between his movements and her laugh, there’s a lot of craziness. I would say a step beyond weird. Weird is a nice word in comparison,” he said.

Democrats embraced Walz’s enthusiasm during the campaign, but Republicans have been ridiculing him.

In his speech Wednesday night, Walz accused Trump and Vance of not understanding “what it takes to be a good neighbor.”

He also issued stern warnings about their agenda.

“Is it weird? Absolutely,” Walz said, “but it’s also wrong and dangerous.”
