Doug Emhoff wipes a tear from his eyes as Kamala Harris takes the stage at the convention

  • Emhoff would be the first-ever US first gentleman if Harris is elected

Doug Emhoff became visibly emotional as Vice President Kamala Harris took the stage during the final night of the Democratic National Convention.

The second man wiped away a tear as he was comforted by his daughter Ella in the audience at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, on Thursday night.

As his wife accepted the Democratic Party nomination for president, Emhoff blew kisses toward the stage.

Emhoff spoke on the second night of the convention on Tuesday, taking the stage as Harris addressed a rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and before the audience heard the main event speakers, Michelle and Barack Obama.

Harris closed out the 2024 DNC with her speech on Thursday, following a hectic month that saw President Joe Biden end his re-election campaign and the vice president take over his campaign.
