Apple delays long-awaited device due to ‘technical issues’

Apple has reportedly postponed the launch of a highly anticipated device due to “technical issues.”

The foldable MacBook, which has been rumored since 2019, was supposed to hit the market next year, but its launch has been delayed until early 2026 or even 2028.

It is expected that when folded, the computer can be used as a notebook with an on-screen keyboard, and when unfolded, it can be used as a monitor with an external keyboard.

Apple is experiencing issues with the display and mechanical components of the 18.8-inch display, which uses a single touchscreen at the top and bottom of the device.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst known for leaking information about Apple products, said in an X after that ‘some market participants previously expected Apple to launch the foldable iPad in 2025, but current supply chain investigation indicates that the foldable iPad has no visibility.

‘That could also be because some people call this foldable MacBook a foldable iPad.’

Kuo reported that Apple has canceled the 20.25-inch display design that the company was reportedly considering. According to him, “the schedule for mass production has been postponed from the first half of 2026 (the first half of 2026) to late 2027 or 2028.”

Some users are concerned about an on-screen keyboard. They say it can be difficult and painful to type if you can’t feel the keys. Apple may be working on ways to make this easier.

An Apple patent describes three ways to make typing on an on-screen keyboard easier. According to the patent, the keyboard should “deform a flexible screen when a virtual key is pressed” and use haptic feedback “to simulate the click of a real key.”

The company added that “an electrostatic charge can also be used to simulate the feel of the edge of a key, making it feel like a real keyboard when you place your fingers on it to type.”

Apple has reportedly been working on a foldable laptop for years, but no official production date has been announced, even though competitors like LG and Samsung have released their own versions.

The same technical issues that are delaying the launch of the MacBook could also be the reason for the delay in the launch of the foldable iPhone.

According to Apple insiders, the device was supposed to hit the market within two years, but production has now been delayed due to “crinkles in the screen”.

The company is reportedly “still evaluating component specifications and performance, with strict requirements for wrinkle and reliability.” 9to5Mac That said, it’s unlikely the device will hit the market before 2027.
