Simone Biles resists clapping back’ at NFL fans over wardrobe blunder
Simone Biles is resisting the urge to respond to criticism over her wardrobe blunder during an NFL preseason game earlier this month as she continues to face the wrath of fans.
The 27-year-old gymnast took to social media on Wednesday to vent her anger over the ongoing criticism of the Bengals’ August 17 exhibition game in Chicago, where she wore a controversial jacket featuring photos of her husband Jonathan Owens in action for his new team’s rival, the Green Bay Packers.
And while Biles has made it clear where her loyalties lie ahead of the new NFL season, she’s still fuming over her unintentional misstep at Soldier Field.
“I want to clap back so badly, but I have to be as civil as possible,” she shared on Threads.
It’s unclear whether Biles’ message was aimed primarily at overly critical Bears fans, or whether he wanted to criticize all NFL fans.

However, Biles’ 1.6 million followers on Thread supported her.
“You’ll get plenty of support no matter what. I’ve always appreciated the class with which you speak out!” said one fan.
“Very understated, very thoughtful, very classy,” another commented under Biles’ post.
“Ignore the negative, there are so many people who love and support you…” someone else commented.
“They go low, you go high,” shared another person.
Owens, 29, played just one season in Green Bay before transferring to Chicago earlier this year.
The safety signed a two-year contract with the Bears in March, believed to be worth $4.5 million, before Biles won three gold medals in Paris.

Biles (pictured in Paris) also said she won’t be attending as many NFL games as she did last season
Earlier this week, Biles announced that she will not attend as many NFL games as she did last season due to her participation in the Gold Over America Tour.
The tour, a traveling gymnastics exhibition featuring a host of gymnasts’ stars, including Biles and her gold-winning U.S. teammates Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles and Hezly Rivera, kicks off September 16 in Oceanside, California.
There will be 30 stops in the United States, finishing in Detroit on November 3, which coincides with Week 9 of the NFL schedule, the midpoint of the regular season.
Biles could potentially attend the Bears’ season opener against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 8, as well as the second half of the season and the start of the playoffs if Chicago clinches a playoff spot.
