A three-year-old child has died in a terrible accident.

The Forensic Crash Unit has launched an investigation after a three-year-old child died in a crash in Queensland last night.

A Mitsubishi ASX was travelling along Lowmead Road in Rosedale, a town between Bundaberg and Gladstone, at around 7.30pm when it left the road and crashed.

Bystanders and emergency services tried to help the toddler, but the three-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 38-year-old driver was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with minor injuries, while an eight-month-old passenger was unharmed.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
