Texas assistant principal is airlifted to hospital after being attacked by a student
A North Texas school assistant principal was airlifted to the hospital after being injured by a student during a “class disruption.”
Candra Rogers, assistant principal at Collins Intermediate School in Corsicana, was flown to a Dallas-area hospital after the incident on Thursday.
The altercation occurred in a classroom with fewer than 10 students present. Authorities have not released details about what caused the injury.
The campus was then placed on “hold,” meaning students were required to remain in their classrooms until authorities indicated it was safe to leave.
No other students or staff members were in danger, district officials assured parents in a letter from Principal Tiffany Boortz.

The Navarro County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the male student had a detention hearing and is now under parental supervision with an ankle monitor, officials said. WFAA.

“We’re just going to wait and let the justice system do its work. Hopefully, Ms. Rogers will be okay soon and can get back to work,” said Raymond Lenix, spokesman for Corsicana ISD.
Rogers joined the Corsicana district last semester. Her husband, Eugene Rogers, is the head football coach at Corsicana High School.
In support of the Rogers family, the district is hosting a “Jeans Day” fundraiser on Friday.

The suggested donation is $2 for students and $5 for staff.
“Jeans often represent comfort and style, but they mean more than that on Friday. Corsicana ISD staff and students can wear jeans on Friday as part of regular campus fundraising efforts,” the district said.
