Alexi Lalas gives brutal verdict on Joe Biden as controversial FOX Sports analyst attends DNC in Chicago: ‘Cold, sad, and irrelevant’

Alexi Lalas has slammed Joe Biden after watching the president’s speech at the Democratic National Convention on Monday.

The former U.S. national team star, now a controversial analyst, attended the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee last month.

Lalas, who previously revealed he is a “proud registered Republican,” has now crossed the political divide and taken on the DNC in Chicago.

Biden delivered an emotional farewell speech on the first day of the convention, just a month after dropping out of the White House race following a disastrous debate.

Lalas ridiculed the president’s speech, writing on social media: “Biden shouting all night was cold, sad and irrelevant.”

He added: ‘It was: cold – he was relegated to the darkness of the late evening. Sad – being thrown out of the election and left screaming in the abyss of midnight was not how he (or [wife] Jill) had an idea that the story would end.

‘Irrelevant – Nothing he said changed a single vote…even if someone stayed.’

Lalas joked that the speech was so long that “even (Donald) Trump thinks Biden should stop.”

But the FOX Sports analyst, who was a star for the US during the 1994 World Cup, also criticized the way Biden was thrown out of the race by the Democratic Party machinery.

“Millions of Americans voted for a candidate, and the GOP honored and respected those votes and voters,” Lalas said.

‘Instead of, for example, organizing an emergency change and installing another candidate who they think has a better chance of winning.’
