Tennessee woman, 20, is killed in horrific freak accident while driving her little brother to daycare

A 20-year-old woman tragically died in a freak traffic accident while dropping her brother off at daycare.

Autumn McClure was sitting in the passenger seat of a small gray sedan, while her boyfriend was behind the wheel.

The pair were traveling on the highway in Ringgold, Georgia, on Wednesday when tragedy struck.

McClure, of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, was suddenly struck by an object flying through the window and hitting her on the highway.

It involved a brake part from a vehicle in front of them that had become loose and smashed through the windshield.

Ringgold police confirmed they are investigating the incident, but told us they could not share any further details until the investigation is complete.

McClure’s brother Collin Le said, “I’m speechless, and the reality still hasn’t hit me.”

He posted the following on Facebook: ‘I guess I’m writing this to make other people aware that taking 3 extra minutes to double check could save someone’s life.’

Her brother said: ‘Early this morning my sister Autumn and her boyfriend dropped my brother off at daycare.

‘While driving on the freeway, a brake caliper/drum flew out of the back of a truck, went through the windshield and hit her in the chest/neck. She died before emergency services could arrive.’

According to Collin, McClure’s 21st birthday is next month.

“I could go on for days about how sweet and gentle she was. How she didn’t deserve any of this, and how broken I am,” he said.

“Autumn was a lifelong resident of Soddy-Daisy. Autumn was the Salutatorian of the Class of 2022 at Soddy-Daisy High School,” the GoFundMe reads.

She earned an Associate Degree from Chattanooga State Community College and is currently studying Graphic Design there.

“Autumn loved the beach and animals, especially her pets. She enjoyed going to concerts, paddle boarding, and hiking.”
