Flinders Island, Tasmania: Horror as man is hit and killed by off-duty cop driving a police car

A man has died after being hit by a police car on Flinders Island.

Tasmania Police say the man died after being hit by a police car driven by an officer on duty on Saturday evening.

Emergency services were called to Lady Barron at 9pm.

The police officer involved was not injured, but 60-year-old Lackrana died at the scene.

“Welfare support is being provided to all those affected and our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this tragic time,” Tasmania Police said in a statement on Sunday.

‘As is customary, a full investigation is being conducted in accordance with professional standards to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.’
