A student officer has been banned from police service after allegedly slamming a door on a woman’s hand.

Officers were called to a home in Asquith, in Sydney’s north, at around 6pm on Friday to reports of an alleged domestic violence incident.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with simple assault and assault causing bodily harm.

He is said to have stopped a woman when she wanted to leave the house and then slammed her hand between the door.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Hornsby District Court on September 3.
