Stones Corner, Queensland: Shock discovery of body leads to murder charge for man, 40, after alleged altercation at Brisbane suburban unit

A man has been charged with murder after the body of another man was found early Friday morning in a suburb.

The 61-year-old’s body was found when police were called to a home on Vine St in Brisbane’s southern suburb of Stones Corner at around 1am to conduct a welfare check.

Police believe the man died after a suspected altercation in the unit around 10 p.m. a week earlier, on August 9.

Following a police investigation, a 40-year-old man was arrested on the Sunshine Coast in the early morning, just after midnight.

He has been charged with murder and will appear in Maroochydore District Court on Monday, August 19.

Police suspect that the two men knew each other.

The exact nature of the man’s death is still being investigated.
