Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will likely be replaced by the Galaxy… Note 25?
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra certainly has a striking design, but its sharp angles can also make it uncomfortable to hold in certain positions. That might not be an issue with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Samsung’s flagship S25 could also be getting a name change that goes back to the past.
Reliable leaker @UniverseIce has shared renders of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra on the X, and the phone in the images has more rounded corners than the S24 Ultra.
It’s unclear where @UniverseIce got these images from, but it’s a source with a good track record. They’ve previously claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will have a more rounded design.
In another post, which you can see below, the same source posted an image comparing the front of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to that of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. It gives you a clear look at how much rounder the corners of the S25 Ultra are, but the focus here is on the edges.
@UniverseIce claims that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is narrower than the 79mm-wide Galaxy S24 Ultra, yet has a wider screen than that phone’s 72.3mm-wide display. That’s apparently achieved via a slimmer frame, and judging by this image, perhaps smaller bezels as well.
They don’t provide actual measurements for any of these parts of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but we’d imagine the difference should be pretty small, though they do claim it’s “an ideal design.”

A new name that fits the new design
And it might not just be the design that’s changing, the name too. According to a leaker Yogesh BrarSamsung could bring back the Galaxy Note name and launch it as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Note instead. They also claim that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus could launch as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Pro instead.
There could be some logic to it, given that the current Ultra line has more in common with the old Notes than it does with Samsung’s original Ultra devices. But it could cause confusion among buyers over whether the Note or Pro is the top-of-the-line model – and to justify the Pro moniker, Samsung would have to pack the mid-range model with better specs than it typically offers.
Either way, it’s likely to be a while before the Samsung Galaxy S25 series launches, with January or February being a likely launch date. That means we likely won’t know for sure what these phones will look like or be called for quite some time, but we’d expect to see plenty more leaks in the meantime.
