Angel Reese wows fans with a remarkable and-one shot… but it’s a tough night for the Chicago Sky as the WNBA returns to action post-Olympics

The return of WNBA action marks the return of two incredibly talented rookies to the court in their heated rivalry.

While Caitlin Clark will have to wait another day before returning to the court, Angel Reese was back in action on Thursday when her Chicago Sky took on the Phoenix Mercury.

Early in the first quarter, with Chicago trailing 15-2, Reese made a dramatic play that signaled her return to action.

Guard Lindsay Allen threw a high inbounds pass to Reese, who the former LSU Tiger caught in the air, immediately clearing the pass and then drawing a foul after Natasha Cloud pushed her.

Reese converted the and-one free throw to cut Chicago’s deficit to 10 points with time left in the quarter.

Angel Reese shot hard and finished, even when he was fouled early against Phoenix

Reese is in a fierce battle with Clark for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award and has all the accolades he needs.

She averages 13.5 points and has the second-best mark in the league: 11.9 rebounds per game.

But Clark is there for her, too: she averages 17.1 points per game (good for 14th in the league) and provides 8.2 assists, the best number in the league.

MORE TO COME.
