Fans have been brutally mocking Cristiano Ronaldo after it emerged what the Portuguese superstar said to himself before taking yet another failed free-kick.
The 39-year-old Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season for Al-Nassr in a lightning fast move against Al-Taawound in the semi-final of the Saudi Super Cup.
His goal made it 23 consecutive seasons for him, as the player hopes to return to his peak after a disappointing Euro 2024 on a personal level.
After being knocked out by France with Portugal, the striker admitted his national team career could be over, saying: ‘This is definitely my last Euro.’
However, his speech before the free-kick was more memorable than his stunning goal.

His free kick was nowhere near good enough to make the Al-Taawoun keeper jump
Ronaldo’s winning mentality was never in question and the striker continued to play at the highest level even after reaching retirement age.
Before taking the free kick, he confidently said to himself in Portuguese: ‘I am the best.’
The statement would not have surprised his fans, but a hilarious miss followed, in which the opposing goalkeeper did not even have to jump.
Many football fans started making jokes about the player’s failure, with one writing: “This brother is finished,” accompanied by a crying emoji.
At the same time, others claimed he is no longer the player he once was.
One said: ‘He’s doing so well, but he’s still one of the best’
Another fan wrote: ‘He is no longer a good free kick taker’
However, one supporter praised the player’s incredible heading skills, while criticising his free-kick skills: ‘It would have been scarier if he had been standing in the penalty area waiting for the header’
On the other hand, some of Ronaldo’s fans supported the player by saying: “He’s still a goat,” while another added: “What I admire in him is his self-confidence, you can’t take that away from him.”

Despite scoring his first goal of the season for Al-Nassr in the semi-final of the Saudi Super Cup, it was his free-kick that was most memorable for the striker’s supporters
Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily criticised for missing free kicks, especially by the Portuguese fans, scoring just once in 60 attempts.
His last goal from a free kick came during the thrilling 3-3 draw against Spain in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.
