According to a report from Axios, Kamala Harris is running headlines in Google search ads as part of her campaign, giving readers the impression that she has the backing of major news organizations.
The ads, which read āSponsored ā Paid for by the Harris Campaignā at the top, include links to stories from outlets including CNN, USA Today and NPR.
In one example, the headline reads āHarris to Cut Health Care Costsā and includes a link to an NPR article.
John Gable, co-founder and CEO of AllSides, a company that assesses media bias, told Axios:
Some of these news organizations may not want to be positioned as if they are promoting a particular campaign, and this may indicate that they may have a bias toward that campaign.
