Chase star Anne Hegerty said there are no downsides to money and fame and that she ‘loves being rich’ as ​​she revealed her life as The Governess.

The 66-year-old professional quizzer has appeared as the very strict and stern governess on the ITV game show since 2010 and on I’m A Celeb in 2018.

Speaking to Bella Magazine about life in the spotlight, Anne said there are “no downsides” to being rich. “I like being famous,” she added.

Of her recent weight loss, which Anne attributed to her wealth, she said: ‘I find I’m less hungry these days. That’s because I’m rich. It’s great, I love being rich.’

The TV personality also gave some insight into her love life. When asked if she’d ever used dating apps, she replied: “No, because I’m afraid I’ll have to have a boyfriend eventually.”

Anne says she struggles to maintain relationships, her longest relationship was only four months, she says.

She said she enjoys being alone and admitted to feeling “a bit pressured” in relationships.

And fans of The Chase can rest assured, as Anne has revealed she has no plans to leave the game show.

She recalls a conversation with Coronation Street actress Helen Worth at the Pride of Manchester Awards, in which she told the soap star that she would never be the person who “left a really successful reality show because she thought they could do better, and then was never heard from again”.

Anne’s career has only gone from strength to strength since playing The Governess on the game show, after she revealed in April that she had been cast in a short film.

She told Daily StaR: ‘I’ve been asked to be in the film and I’ve decided to go for it. We’re going to be shooting it in the next few months.

“I don’t think I’ll be nervous. It’s not in front of an audience. If I was, I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, am I going to forget my lines?’

“But since there won’t be an audience, I’m not worried.”

Anne, who has appeared in the ITV show since 2010, also revealed whether her new role would mean she would leave the series.

He told the publication: ‘I have no plans to retire. [The Chase is] the little workhorse that makes everything possible, and I do it with great pleasure.

“It’s the best job I’ve ever had, so I’m happy to keep doing it as long as they need me.”

Anne previously announced that she has chosen not to take part in the final series of Dancing On Ice, in order to focus on her role in the Chesterfield pantomime Aladdin.

Talking to The Mirror Last year she explained: ‘I auditioned for Dancing on Ice because I wanted to improve my skating skills.

‘However, scheduling problems arose during the pantomime, and the appeal of being on stage, interacting with the audience, acting, singing and bringing in humour… that experience was of great value to me.

“I would have just been dragged around by a penguin and never really been able to skate. That would have been pretty discouraging.”

She has previously spoken candidly about how she copes with autism, and last year she revealed that it was a tool in finding love.

In her spin-off series The Chasers Road Trip, the presenter revealed that the longest relationship she’d ever had lasted four months and that she ended it because she was “not good” at giving him enough attention.

She joked that she is “basically a Cyborg” after discovering her emotional intelligence level is only 1%.
