Ellen DeGeneres sells California mansion for eye-watering $96million
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have sold their sprawling California mansion for a whopping $96 million.
The TV personality bought the 25-acre estate in the city of Carpinteria in 2022 for $70 million, the largest real estate deal ever in Santa Barbara County.
Ownership information obtained by the wall street journal shows that she sold her Blufftop home less than two years later for $96 million to an entity tied to mining magnate Robert Friedland.
When DeGeneres purchased the Tuscan-style mansion in the celebrity town of Carpinteria, it boasted more than 9,000 square feet, five bedrooms and eight bathrooms spread over three floors.
The home featured high ceilings with exposed wood beams, hardwood floors, stone arches, and marble accents.

The master bedroom has a terrace with spa, two walk-in closets and a bathroom.
Located near Santa Barbara and Montecito, the estate features a private beach just off the cliff.
Carpinteria is also home to stars such as Kevin Costner and filmmaker George Lucas
DeGeneres and Friedland appear to have swapped homes. Documents show the celebrity couple paid $32 million to buy back a Santa Barbara home they sold to him earlier this year for the same amount.

The circa-1919 home sits on about eight acres. The couple purchased a vacant three-acre parcel next door from another seller for $6 million.
In July, DeGeneres announced that she is “done” with showbiz once her Netflix special comes out.
The 66-year-old comedian is in the middle of her farewell tour Ellen’s Last Stand… Up, the final shows of which are being filmed for the streaming service.
Her last tour was in 2018, four years before her daytime talk show was canceled amid a flood of allegations about a “toxic” work environment.
Last month, she discussed her departure from the spotlight onstage in Santa Rosa, joking that she’ll be canceled next time because she’s “old, gay and mean,” according to SF port.

When asked if she might return in the future, she flatly rejected the possibility.
“This is the last time you’ll see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done,” DeGeneres said of her upcoming hour-long taping for the special this fall.
“Let me give you an update on what’s been happening to me since the last time you saw me,” she told the crowd in Santa Rosa.
“I have chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
