Revesby, Sydney: Elderly woman is struck and killed by car in a driveway – as her husband is arrested

An elderly woman has died after being hit by a car. Her distraught husband was arrested at the scene.

The woman, in her 70s, was hit in a driveway on Nichols Avenue in Revesby, south-west Sydney, around 3.15pm on Sunday.

Emergency services tried to treat the woman, but she could not be saved.

Her husband, who is believed to have been behind the wheel, was arrested and taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory tests.

The footage showed the distraught man sitting on a nearby wall with his hands on his head.

A woman was seen comforting him, wiping tears from her eyes.

Two other women and a man also supported the man.

He was later taken by officers to the back of a police car waiting outside the house.

Detectives have launched an investigation into the incident.
