The Biggest Loser star Steve ‘Commando’ Willis announces exciting TV comeback

A former star of The Biggest Loser is returning to the TV screen after a long absence.

Steve ‘Commando’ Willis, best known for his role as a trainer on the weight loss program, has announced that he is returning with a brand new show.

Willis, 48, will be back in front of the camera for the first time since competing on Survivor Australia in 2018.

The celebrity trainer will co-host the fourth season of 7Mate show Search4Hurt, which sees fitness fanatics train with experts in a series of gruelling challenges.

In The Biggest Loser, ‘The Commando’ was known for his tough, gruff personality, but Willis told the Daily Telegraph Friday that his image has since softened.

‘People associate me with that physicality and that’s great, but as I get older I realize that life isn’t all about that physicality and [it’s about] “Being able to use life’s experiences, wisdom and knowledge to be a mentor and a role model,” he said.

Steve then reflected on his time on The Biggest Loser and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity the show gave him to share his talents.

‘To exert influence and share my knowledge and help [the contestants] “Dealing with their habits and behaviors was incredibly valuable. It’s something I brought to work every day,” Willis said.

“I understood it was about getting attention and doing things like that, but at its core it was about real people and they needed help. I offered my help to the best of my ability, and also played a role in a character,” he added.

Willis rose to fame in 2007 through his popular weight loss program when the former soldier found love with co-star Michelle Bridges.

Before they split in 2020, the former power couple built a fitness empire together, with Willis publishing books including Commando Steve: No Excuses and Get Commando Fit. He even starred in a season of Australian Survivor.

But after his split from Bridges and departure from The Biggest Loser in 2015, the 48-year-old Willis largely disappeared from the public eye, leaving fans wondering what he was doing.

Despite being off television for a number of years, Commando is still a major player in the fitness industry.

He currently runs his own gym in Sydney called Get Commando Fit, works as a personal trainer and teaches online classes.

Willis also runs a fitness program for children called Commando Kids and hosts his own grueling fitness camps.

His personal life also blossomed when he found love with former F45 trainer Vancuylenberg.

The couple reportedly met in November 2019, when Harika visited one of Steve’s fitness retreats in Tahiti. In July 2020, they confirmed their relationship.
