Maryland house leveled after apparent blast, no ongoing threat to public

BEL AIR, Maryland — Firefighters in Maryland searched for possible victims Sunday after a house exploded in a town northeast of Baltimore.

The Harford County Fire & EMS said on Facebook that there was no ongoing threat to the public from the explosion that leveled a home in Bel Air, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northeast of Baltimore.

A photo posted by county officials showed several firefighters standing around the rubble of a home with another damaged home in the background. Charred pieces of wood were piled on the property and insulation and splintered wood spilled into the street.

It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries. Emergency services used special equipment to search through the rubble.
