Gmail is OFF THE WORLD: Google’s email service hit by global outage

Gmail is unavailable to users worldwide, meaning they cannot send emails or access their accounts.

The outage hit Google’s service around 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, affecting users in the US, UK, parts of Europe, Australia, Asia and South America.

More than 1.8 billion people worldwide use Gmail, but the number of people affected on Thursday is unknown.

Users expressed their frustrations over the issues with the email service on X. Some shared screenshots of the error message: “Oops, something went wrong.”

DownDetector, A site that monitors online issues showed users reporting problems with Gmail throughout the day, but that there was a complete outage in the afternoon.

That’s when most Americans are in the middle of their workday.

About 82 percent of the issues reported to DownDetector were related to sending emails, 15 percent were related to the server connection, and just under three percent were related to the website.

Gmail is the world’s most popular email provider. It is used in over 170 countries and territories.

Google’s Workspace dashboard shows service outages for ChromeOS, Gmail, and Google Drive.

“Our technical team is still investigating the issue,” the company said on its site.

‘Gmail: Users who tried to send emails with attachments or save drafts experienced errors.’

The warning also states that there is currently no temporary workaround.
