Ryan Moore on Delacroix, Idles Of March and Whistlejacket as the action at The Curragh gets underway

Three-time champion jockey Ryan Moore is back in action for six rides at The Curragh on Saturday.

The 40-year-old has identified Whistlejacket as the man to beat in the 16:35 Phoenix Stakes as he hopes to secure his third victory in the event.

Here, Betfair Ambassador Moore will discuss his six rides on Saturday.

1.45pm Curragh

Delacroix

We have two here and I am riding Delacroix. He ran a very nice race when he was second to Green Impact at Leopardstown last month. The winner had the advantage of a run and all in all my boy ran well despite being green. That was over 1m but I think the drop back to 7f here will be good and he should come forward for the Leopardstown run.

Acapulco Bay

Like Delacroix, our second runner, Acapulco Bay, is a son of Dubawi. He performs well at home and should run a solid race.

14.15 Curragh

Ides of March

Once again we are here with two hands and I am riding Ides Of March. He was favourite last time at the Curragh but was beaten by his stable mate, The Lion In Winter. He looks a nice prospect and the runner up that day, Currawood, is a nice horse owned by Paddy Twomey. Ides Of March will be suitable for the drop to 6f and with some decent form in the book he will go well.

Monumental

Is the second of our two runners and should come for his run in a strong Curragh maiden won by Henri Matisse. He is running here for the first time with blinkers on.

Ballet shoe

We are double represented in this juvenile mare race and I am riding the very well bred daughter of Dubawi out of that great mare, Magical. Ballet Slipper. She ran very well when she was third behind Ger Lyons Frankle mare, Red Letter, over this course and distance in July. That is quite smart form and follows on from our Frankle mare, Lake Victoria, who is running in the ‘Sweet Solera’ at Newmarket on the same day. This condition race looks a good opportunity for a promising mare

Tea rose

Our second runner, Tea Rose, is another daughter of Frankle. She is working well at home and should run a good race.

15.25 Curragh

Electrical storm

I was a bit disappointed we didn’t win when I first rode her at Deauville last month and just got back in with Shouldvebeenaring. She’s an improving mare with very few miles on her clock and I think the Curragh should suit her. It’s a competitive race and a lot of horses have chances but my mare should do well from a good draw.

Whistle vest

He appreciated the step down to 6f in the July Stakes last month and it was nice to see the form from that race improved with the third, Aomori City, winning the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and the second, Billboard Star, running well in the Richmond at the same track. You have to respect Ger Lyon’s mare, Babouche, who is two from two, but despite being green at Newmarket my boy won well and he sets the standard here.

Heaven’s Gate

Won her maiden over this course and distance and is well experienced at this stage with 5 runs to her name. She has run some fine races in defeat, in good company, and will run well.

17.40 Curragh

Democracy

Showed some promise as a two-year-old and has had some decent runs in defeat, most notably when beaten just over 8l by Diego Velazquez in a G2 at Irish Champions Weekend over a mile. 7f seems to be his distance and although he has failed to get his head in front this term, he comes here with a chance in an open handicap.
