Fans go wild for Sha’Carri Richardson as she stares down opponents on home straight before taking gold for Team USA in 4x100m relay

Team USA fans went wild online for Sha’Carri Richardson as she took on her two biggest opponents on the straightaway before winning a gold medal in the 4×100-meter relay.

When Richardson was handed the baton, the United States was in fourth place. That quickly changed to third, second and finally the lead, which it never relinquished.

With about 25 meters to go in the race, Richardson felt she had overtaken Britain’s Daryll Neita. She looked to the lane closest to the grandstand to check her position. It was right in front of a camera that was following the competitors.

Richardson turned her head once more before crossing the finish line, where she let out a loud scream as she won gold.

Here’s what Team USA fans thought of Richardson’s confidence.

Richardson won her first gold medal in the comeback race, making her one of the fastest women in the world in her first Olympic appearance.

Gabby Thomas, who passed the baton to Richardson, told how she watched her complete the final stretch.

“You know she’s going to get the job done no matter where we are in the race,” Thomas said.

‘We did a great job in all the stages, but there was nothing better than seeing her go around the track and win the race for us.’

Richardson himself attempted to share the honor.

“I remember trusting my third leg, trusting Gabby, and knowing that she was going to put that stick in my hand no matter what, and I had to be my best on the court,” Richardson said.
