Cate Blanchett shocks fans by revealing how much she really made in the $2 billion box office blockbuster Lord of the Ring franchise

Cate Blanchett opens up about how little she actually earned while filming the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The 55-year-old Australian actress promoted her highly anticipated Borderlands film on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with her co-star Gina Gershon on Wednesday.

She entered a game called Plead the 5th, when host Andy Cohen asked which film made her the most money, and he guessed Lord of the Rings, in which she played the elf Galadriel.

Blanchett was stunned and said, “Are you kidding me? No, nobody got paid to make that movie.”

When Cohen asked if she got “a piece of the back end” of the trilogy that grossed more than $2 billion worldwide, Blanchett said, “No!that was way before all that, nothing. I wanted to work with the guy who made Brain Dead. I mean, I basically got free sandwiches and I got to keep my ears.’
